He may have asked the question regarding your mental health because he didn't know what else to say. He may have even kicked himself later for not knowing how to enage you, like, "Why did I ask him how his mental health was?!?!?!" It's not every day in field service that one runs into a DF'd apostate. 9 times out of 10 when you run into someone DF'd in field service, the reason behind their DFing is sexual in nature. To run into someone who can logically state what stumbled them and what motivated them to leave Da Troof of their own cognizance and volition, is rare. To be honest with you, I don't have the foggiest idea what I'd say to an apostate at the door.

Is this weird? JW FB comments
by serenitynow! inparadise-related greetings and meetup plans.
on a couple of jw fb sites, people often say things like "i'll see you in paradise," or "i'm going to travel and meet all of you guys in paradise and hang out with your lions.
" and on the jw news, library, etc.

I think they are desperately trying to convince themselves that they will see Paradise in their lifetime.
This, this right here. Either they're trying to convince themselves, or trying to make themselves appear overly spiritual or theocratic. Its really sad when you think about it, having to convince yourself of something which common sense and experience tells you otherwise.

Saturday Morning Musings ...
by snowbird inone hot, hot thursday, in july of 1987, i worked a half day, drove from wilcox county to mobile county to pick up a sister, then hit i-10 for new orleans to attend the convention which began the next day.. the evening traffic was unbelievable; when i finally arrived and pulled into our hotel parking lot, i was shaking like a leaf in the wind.
we checked in, and after showering, i fell into bed and slept like a drunk person.. the next morning, friday, was a complete blur as we made our way to the superdome.
i don't remember anything that was discussed that day, just the searing heat as we returned to the hotel.. after a long shower, i again fell into a deep slumber.

Awesome thread Syl!! Every year my father gets grumpy during the week of the convention, and every year he threatens to my mother that he's not going this year. Don't get me wrong, he's still a believer, but he sees how senseless these conventions are. Couple years ago the convention was in a location that didn't warrent me having to stay in a hotel far out of town. It was roughly an hour away, so every morning I drove to the convention and helped out with parking. The only reason I did that was to show face so people wouldn't say at the next meeting, "Miz, I didn't see you there." After I got done with parking in the morning, I jumped back in the car and headed home. I did that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and I have to say that was the best convention ever!!!
The thought of going to the convention this year has me irritated. My brother and sister are both married, and my parents are getting up in years, so with me being single and relatively young, the transporting of my parents, grandmother, and aunt, falls upon me. My father is very opinionated, and my mother is very pious as is my grandmother, and my aunt is about as bright as an unpainted toenail. Those two hours of driving and hearing their conversations is enough to make a man lose his mind. Add that onto being roughly $300-$400 broker by Sunday evening all over a glorified publication release party, doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. The one good thing is the hotel that we're all staying at is right across the street from the convention. A brother called me to see if I was available for attendant privileges, and I told him no. I usually like to stay busy at the convention, whether it be lost & found, the bookroom, cleaning, ya know anything to keep me from having to sit there and listen to the same talks, demos, interviews, soliloquies, dramas, and all the same crap we hear every year, year after year. It's like Deja-Vu, or Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. This year, so far, I have no privileges, although its early yet, and I always manage to feel guilty enough to find something to help out with there. My goal this year was to hoard as much Xanax as I possibly could and show my face in the morning, and then walk back to the hotel and party by myself.

Gayle, thanks for posting that. That's exactly what I was thinking. So hypothetically speaking, it would cost an individual elder, ministerial servant, or possibly any adult JW that does field service who might possibly partner up with a minor, a cost of roughly $80.00 a year to do a so called voluntary work. Not to mention, the very thought of "registering" carries legal connotations that quite frankly would disturb me enough to resign tonight, considering the WT's history of leaving their own out to dry when things hit the fan.
Another thing too, this registering wouldn't apply to family heads would it? A father could still work with his children out in field service without having to register. There's plenty of fatherless families amongst JWs, and when it comes to field service its been stated often enough that its the family's responsibility to train and work with their children in field service. When it comes to families that lack both parents for whatever reason, be it an unbelieving parent, or a widow, often enough ministerial servants and elders would work with those young ones in the field, especially the males. Pioneers often work with young sisters and brothers too, so that means pioneers would have to get regisitered too. If this were to happen, I can see a whole lot of young ones with a JW parent that wouldn't have to go out in service, or wouldn't have to worry about a pioneer/elder/servant/CO/DO encouraging them personally, because it would cost roughly $80/year for registeration to provide that kind of encouragement, and the legal ramifications lingering in that "volunatary counsler's" conscience.

Another angle that I wonder whether it concerns the WT is, will this be another reason out of many, that would cause men not to reach out and become elders? Would this also be a reason to cause some if not many elders to step down? If elders, COs, amongst others have to get registered for this so called "voluntary work", and it costs to get this done, its reasonable to not expect the WT to assist with that cost in any way, shape, or form. The WT could give a rat's tail about anybody's financial difficulties when individuals voluntarily contribute their time and money in assisting this organization. There's more than a few elders that would say, "screw this" if they had to pay to get registered. Not to mention the non-elders and ministerial servants who would stop going out in field service or have any contact with youth in the organization if they have to add another burden to the already unneccesary financial toll for serving this organization.
Then there's the legal aspect of it that would weigh heavy on someone's mind. What I mean is, when someone gets registered for something like working with kids, there's a thought in the back of their mind that if something happens, either accident, or whatever, the responsibility falls upon the adult. I personally would not want to be in such a position, knowing that if something goes down, the WT would leave me out to dry and distance themselves as far as they could with me.

A few notes on September 15, 2011 Watchtower, fresh off the presses!
by sd-7 inseptember 15th, 2011 watchtower, page 28, paragraph 13:.
"if a human overseer in god's organization provides you with instructions that seem extremely detailed, you might at times feel frustrated.
jehovah, however, is a perfect overseer who delegates generously and trusts his servants.

Pages 12-13 give a lovely tale of Jean-Claude, whose manager tells him to work on meeting nights or else. Naturally, the manager gets fired, which must be a sign from above that going to the meetings was the right choice. As opposed to the manager coincidentally stealing from the business or coming in late or something like that.
They shoot themselves in the foot everytime with these ridiculous, unbelievable articles. Could this kind of lying be considered journalistic plagiarism?
Page 15, paragraph 17 tells about a single sister whose unbelieving mom tries to convince her to marry just anyone who comes along. "I asked her if she wanted to be responsible if my marriage turned out badly. In time, she saw that I had a stable job, was taking care of myself, and was happy. She stopped pressuring me."
I think this paragraph had a different intent then what it appears to be on the surface. This had nothing to do with incompatable relationships, but everything to do with the throngs of single for life women you'll find in every congregation. These women will be single for as long as they're in this organization because of the WT's internal cult interpretation of 1 Cor 7:39, to marry only in the Lord, which in WT land means marry only another Jehovah's Witness, as all other Christians are enemies of the Lord. The message in this paragraph is that you don't need to be married to be happy, which to some extent is true. However, considering all the single sisters I've known amongst JWs, plenty of them are pretty darn miserable being single, and knowing they'll probably die that way. The plagiarized sister in the paragraph was happy being single and taking care of herself, and the only thing that surprises me about her is that she's not pioneering. Oh well, I guess even those lying scumbags in the Writing Department can only exert so much pressure on their readers at a time.
